Room No 2##

“Here is your room key Ma’am!”

I asked “What is the room view" to which he told me there was a school outside.

I again asked  “Any better view?”

He said “The other rooms open to the road and hence city traffic, so this one is better”.

I thought to myself city traffic? what are you talking about? I live in Delhi, it can’t be worse.

“Alright,” I said to him and agreed to get the room No. 2#####

The room was nice, clean, and dimly lit (so if there are bugs they go unnoticed 🤭🤭)

The next morning was a Sunday; we woke to delightful music being played in the school probably some hymns by a group of women. I was enjoying the music and then a guy started singing my then favorite song “Let Her Go” by Passenger when I lived in Mysore. The feeling of nostalgia hit me hard and I just couldn’t stop but open the window to look who was singing it. I could only see some people coming out of the school building. Nevertheless, that became my favorite memory of the Mysore trip which was complemented by its pleasant cloudy weather and the cool breeze making the leaves of trees move and rustle.

On the contrary,

While leaving the hotel, there was a ruckus, I lost my two little elephants. I checked through my luggage and also requested the manager to let me check the room. We couldn’t find it. I was sad and disappointed when the manager said “Do not worry, even if it is gold, we return”. There was truth in the words, it seemed.

I later found my tuskers in the suitcase buried between the other clothes.

With the sweet memories I am back home and my sandalwood tuskers are happily resting at the right spot and smelling great.
